Visa Car Finance Australia

Moving to Australia to work or study is an exciting journey. However, getting around without your own vehicle can be tough, especially when mainstream lenders and big banks turn visa holders away. If you need a car loan on a visa, Buddii Finance has access to lenders who understand visa conditions and can help when others say no.

We specialise in car finance for Bridging Visa A holders, Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional) visa holders, Subclass 482 (Skills in Demand) visa holders, Subclass 485 (Temporary Graduate) visa holders and Subclass 100 (Partner) visa holders. Our team will guide you through a lending process that’s more involved than a standard car loan, but genuinely achievable.

Bridging Visa A: Where We Can Help Most

Buddii Finance has access to a dealership lender and one of the only lenders in Australia still writing car loans for Bridging Visa A holders. Because Bridging Visa A has no expiry date, it removes one of the biggest hurdles lenders usually look at, which makes it one of the strongest visa types for a car finance application.

Why Choose Buddii Finance for Visa Car Finance?

  • Access when others say no: We have relationships with lenders, who will consider visa holders that mainstream banks decline.
  • Bridging Visa A specialists: One of the few brokers in Australia with access to a lender still approving Bridging Visa A car loans.
  • Visa-aware assessment: We look at your visa type, timing and conditions rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
  • Less paperwork where possible: Bank statements aren’t always required, depending on the lender.

Eligibility: What Lenders Look For

PAYG employment is the strongest qualifier for visa car finance. Casual employees typically need at least 3 months in the same role, while full-time employees with a valid employment contract can often apply straight away. ABN or self-employed income is generally not well suited to visa car finance applications.

Most lenders won’t finance more than the vehicle’s booked value, so having cash savings to cover any gap puts you in a stronger position. Many visa holders do have solid savings behind them, which works in your favour here.

Lenders generally want to see at least 2 to 6 months remaining on your visa, since car loans typically run for a minimum of 12 months. If you’re well within your visa period, you’re in the best position to apply. Bridging Visa A is the exception, as it has no expiry date.

Documents You May Need

  • Valid passport and visa details
  • Proof of stable income or employment contract
  • Australian driver’s licence or legal overseas licence
  • Bank statements showing your savings or regular income, where required by the lender

Each lender has its own policies around early repayment, but in most cases, you should be able to make additional repayments or pay off your loan in full earlier than your initial date. Most lenders charge reasonable exit fees and charges on loans, which is why it’s important to discuss your individual circumstances with your Buddii broker before making additional repayments.

Each dealership has its own policies and processes, but in most cases, you should be able to take your car home as soon as the loan has settled. This tends to be after your loan is approved and signed.

Most lenders will allow you to use your car loan for any purpose, whether it’s for a new or used car, repairs, or even to refinance an existing car loan.

Of course! If you find a private seller that you’d like to purchase a car from, Buddii will check to see whether there are any outstanding balances owing on the vehicle.
